Everyone needs a night out now and then, especially on a weekend. Bars often have a theme party to attract new customers and provide a good time for the regulars too. It is fun to see friends and other customers in costumes or playing games. The food often revolves around the theme, offering things that aren't usually served. From the music and decorations to the activities and special drinks, bar theme parties are great ways to blow off some steam and relax.
Toga Party
Toga partyGrab a sheet and get ready to dance the night away Roman style. Toga themed bar parties have always been popular, and it's an inexpensive theme. Sheets are the costumes, either by themselves or over regular clothes. Pass out head wear decorated with flowers. Set up a photo scene with a Roman backdrop for toga pictures. Decorate the backs of chairs with white, gold and black balloons. Make cardboard Roman columns and drape them in gold tinsel. Drink specials should have a Toga themed name. For example, "nectar of the gods" could be a citrus drink or peach schnapps. Activities for the Toga bar party could include a best toga contest, a raffle using tickets with Roman numerals or a game to add the most olives to a martini from across the room.
Disco
Disco ballGet ready to shake your groove thing with a disco-themed bar party. Disco was king in the 70's, so ask people to wear 70's-style fashions. Play disco's greatest music hits and give awards to the best dancers of the Robot, the Freak and the Bump, all popular dances then. Almost every bar then had a disco ball, so be sure to get one for this disco themed bar party as well. They are sold in novelty shops. Offer a buffet of finger foods. Decorate with black lights, bead curtains, balloons and strobe lights. Have a contest where people dress as 70's disco celebrities and give "I survived the 70's" shirts to the winners.
Slumber Party
Slumber partyThis bar party theme can be naughty or nice as far as what kind of sleepwear to wear. Nighties, pajamas, boxers and T-shirts are options. Have a live DJ play some cool jams for dancing and have a few slow dances. Break the ice with the single guests by playing Spin the Bottle. Bar party food can be chips, chicken wings, potato skins, pizza slices and other slumber party food.
Pucker Pleaser
Pucker up!This bar party theme is pretty much a normal bar party except for one big difference. People are selling kisses to raise money for whatever charity the group has decided on. The pucker pleaser bar party theme is a new twist on the old kissing booth. Participants who are selling the kisses wear a big red pair of lips on their shirt. This can be a sticker, a flashing lip pin or paper cutout. The lips say "Pucker Pleaser" on them. People who want to buy kisses pay for a strip of tickets or just one if that is all they want. Each ticket is $1.00. This way, the "Plucker Pleasers" do not have to carry the money.
Graffiti Night
Signing a shirtGraffiti night is a theme party where memories can be kept forever. Patrons wear white tee shirts to the bar. They also bring markers. The idea for this theme party is to sign each other's shirts. It's a great way to approach a new person without being shy. For that reason, the graffiti theme party is a good theme for singles' bars.
