Overview

Paradise isn't too far away, even if it's 15 degrees outside, when you have your own indoor tiki bar at which to drink your pina colada. While other bar styles are sometimes difficult to complete in your home, a tiki bar can be very simple. If you have a basement, den or otherwise unoccupied area in your home, you have room to build your own indoor tiki bar to enjoy year round.

Step 1

Cut your particle board down into two 60-by-24-inch pieces. These will be the countertop and roof of your tiki bar.

Step 2

Cut six 3 1/2-foot pieces from the 12-foot-long 2-by-4 boards. Cut two 2-foot pieces from the 1-foot-long 2-by-4 board.

Step 3

Nail four of the 3 1/2-foot pieces to each corner of one sheet of particle board. These become the legs for your bar countertop. Before proceeding, make sure your work makes this a sturdy structure.

Step 4

Attach by nailing two 3 1/2-foot pieces to the top of the back of the countertop and two 2-foot pieces to the top of the front of the countertop. The should be upward from the countertop, in order to help create a roof.

Step 5

Cut triangles out of the top of the roof support boards at a 60-degree angle.

Step 6

Lay the remaining cut particle board piece on top of the roof supports, and nail them down solidly. If the roof board is wider than the space left, have the overhang at the front of the tiki bar.

Step 7

Sand down the entire tiki bar. Paint the bar with brown paint.

Step 8

Staple the grass skirting to the roof, allowing any extra to hang over the front.

Step 9

Position and staple the 3 1/2-by-9-foot bamboo matting to the base of the bar, starting around one side, continuing to the front and ending around the other corner.

Step 10

Attach the bamboo matting to the countertop.

Step 11

Trim the bar's countertop, edges and roof supports with rope.

Step 12

Hang rope lights from your tiki bar. Decorate it with various accents including seashells or anything else you prefer.

Beer Masters on Facebook
Site Manager - Shannon The extent at which I like beer may border on the ridiculous, but I have always felt that the people who love beer for all the right reasons are the kind of people we need more of in this world.

I want to make beermasters.com a portal for beer enthusiasts and experts from around the world. This is a place to share experiences, favorite beer recipes and pubs and to learn all there is to learn about the art of making and enjoying beer. Think of this place as the best neighborhood pub ever...sure I can't pour you anything from a tap, but as soon as someone invents that star trek food making thing, we will all get hilarious together.

and it will be awesome.
