Overview
After a night of hard partying, a crushing hangover can really bring you back to reality. Drinking too much alcohol depletes the body's stores of nutrients and water, bringing on the headaches, nausea and fatigue that are commonly associated with a bad hangover. Vitamin B stores are one of the areas that are hardest hit by alcohol. Replenishing these stores by taking vitamin-B complex supplements can help prevent (or, if it's too late, heal) hangovers.
Step 1
Take one vitamin B complex supplement with at least two full glasses of water before the drinking begins. This step will ensure that all vitamin B stores are high before they are depleted by alcoholic beverages, which may keep them from falling far below normal levels. Taking a supplement can also aid the body's ability to metabolize alcohol. Drinking water is a smart thing to do before you attend any event where alcohol is present; it makes sure the body is fully hydrated.
Step 2
Drink sensibly at the event. Vitamin B complex does not protect anyone from alcohol poisoning and other very serious side effects of drinking too much. Drink water periodically throughout the night and eat some food during the event if it lasts longer than a few hours.
Step 3
Drink at least one glass of water before going to sleep.
Step 4
Take a second vitamin B complex supplement upon awakening. Eat something first; taking any sort of supplement on an empty stomach can cause vomiting or nausea.
