Overview
Seven-card stud is a popular poker game played worldwide at land-based casinos and poker rooms and even online. This type of poker was more regularly played than Texas Hold'em poker until the latest trend of televised poker events and games. Every player participating in a complete round will acquire a sum of seven playing cards but can only apply five of the cards to form a hand. Players will acquire four of these cards face up and the other three face down. Numerous betting opportunities exist in this kind of poker.
Step 1
Set the game's table limits. Decide on the amounts of the bets allowed. Pick a fixed limit amount, like $5/$10, which allows bets of $5 up to the fourth card and $10 after that.
Step 2
Set an "ante" amount. Each player must place an ante bet to be able to receive cards. Deal each player who placed an ante two cards face down and one card face up in front of them.
Step 3
Locate the player who shows the lowest card. This player must fold or bet. Continue clockwise around until all other players act.
Step 4
Deal another card face up to each player still in the poker hand. Betting begins with the player who has the highest-ranked cards from now on.
Step 5
Repeat Step 4 two more times. Bets are increased to the higher limit amount during these two rounds. Finish with one final card (the seventh card) being dealt face down. Conclude with another betting round.
Step 6
Select the winner from the remaining seven-card-stud players still in the poker game. The player holding the highest-ranking poker hand is the winner. When two (or more) hands are equal, the pot is divided among them.
TIPS AND WARNINGS
- TIP : The poker-table limits can be any amount you decide. You can use 5 cents/10 cents, 50 cents/$1, $50/$100 or any other figures you would like.
Players can fold, bet, call a bet or raise when it is their turn to act during a poker hand.
An ante bet is typically half or less than the lower limit bet of a seven-card-stud game.
The cards are dealt clockwise from the first active position to the left of the dealer.
Normally, three raises are allowed for each round.
You can replace cash in the game with poker chips. Decide on an amount for each color of chip.
