Overview
Five-card poker is often called 5-card draw or simply draw poker. It's the basic game of poker and is played in homes around the world. This game is rarely found in public poker rooms or casinos, but still exists online. Five-card draw is an easy game to learn. Each poker player gets five cards and has a chance to exchange some of the cards for different ones. This is the game that the original video poker machines were designed after. Five-card draw is a fast and fun game.
Step 1
Decide on the 5-card draw house rules. Set the table limits for the ante and two betting rounds. Declare the amount of cards that can be exchanged and who is going to be the dealer for each round.
Step 2
Place all ante bets in the middle of the table. Deal every player five cards and make sure they are all face down. Next, all the players pick up their cards.
Step 3
Betting begins with the first player to the left of the dealer. This player can bet or check. After this, each player can check, if no bet was made, bet, if the first player checked, call the bet, raise or fold their poker hand.
Step 4
Draw as many cards as needed. Each poker player, starting with the first active player to the left of the dealer, can replace some of the cards in their hand. New cards are given from the deck to each player in turn.
Step 5
Finish with another betting round. Follow the directions in Step 3.
Step 6
Declare the winner of the poker hand from the remaining players. The player with the highest-ranking poker hand wins the pot. If two or more poker hands are equivalent, the amount of the pot is divided.
