Overview
Drinking beer is a popular way to relax and have fun with friends. Often, drinking games and paraphernalia like beer bongs are used to increase the drinking to unheard-of levels. While this has the potential to increase everyone's fun and enjoyment, it also adds to the danger and leads down the path of binge drinking. To drink in moderation with friends is fun, but to drink to the point where your body is being harmed (or even destroyed) is truly irresponsible. Therefore, think very carefully before you assemble and use a beer bong.
Step 1
Find a funnel. One that fits an entire can of beer (12 oz.) would be of the best size. The capacity of most funnels is stated on their wrapping. Note the diameter of the spout; this is very important when it comes to buying the tubing. The spout does not have to be very long, but must be long enough to have the tubing attach to it.
Step 2
Find a long, flexible plastic tube. It should be flexible enough to be moved about and bent, but not flexible enough to fly all over the place when liquid is forced through it. A thickness of 2 to 3mm would be best. Also, make sure the diameter will fit the funnel snugly. The optimal fit would be slightly above the circumference of the funnel, or exactly on it.
Step 3
Join the funnel and the tube. Try to put the tubing onto the funnel as is; it should be a very tight fit. Ideally, you should not be able to fit the tubing onto the funnel on the first try. This will ensure that the fit will be very tight. Liberally put the oil around the inside of the tubing, and all over the funnel spout. This will both lubricate the fixture and keep any liquid from spilling out--especially as oil and beer do not mix. Push the tubing onto the spout.
Step 4
Test the apparatus. Bend the bottom of the tub up so that the tubing is kinked and allows no liquid to escape. Pour water into the funnel. The water should flow down the funnel and into the tubing. There should be no leaks from the tubing, the funnel or the connection. If the tube or the funnel itself leaks, take it back to the retailer and request a replacement. After the test, soak the entire thing in very hot, soapy water. This will take off all of the plastic protectant on the funnel and the tubing, as well as make it all more pliable.
TIPS AND WARNINGS
- TIP : Buy a funnel with a larger capacity than 12 oz., because you don't want to be holding a funnel that is filled to the very top.
Think about future use: If the funnel is very flimsy and cheap, you may only get one use out of it.
It's better to buy the funnel first, then go shop for the tubing. Take the funnel with you when buying the tubing.
- WARNING : Be careful how much you drink. You will not feel the amount of alcohol you are taking in.
Do not drink and drive. Drink responsibly, and not at all if you are under age.
