Overview
Beers in a can are OK to drink in a pinch, but nothing sounds as good as the "psst" of a cap coming off of a beer and the clink of a few bottles toasting a grand achievement. The achievement toasted could be as simple as a good joke or just the fact that good friends are spending time with one another. These good times often turn to games and fun, especially if you have a number of bottle caps lying about.
Flying bottle caps
Step 1
Find a bottle cap that is not bent or warped in any way. Prying a cap off often bends it, and this causes problems with aerodynamics. Twist-off caps work, but they are second to a cap pried off by a machine or tool that has not bent or marred it. The cap should have teeth so that it is easier to grip.
Step 2
Learn to snap with your thumb and middle finger. There are many ways to snap, and people are taught them depending on the region of the world they live in. Basically, press your thumb and middle finger tightly together. Then let your thumb slide off your middle finger while still applying the same force.
Step 3
Grasp the lip of the cap (where the teeth are) with both the middle finger and the thumb. Grasp it so the bottle cap is pointing toward your ring finger and pinkie and angled slightly downward. For many people this is an unnatural way of holding things, and may be the hardest part.
Step 4
Bend your arm back so your hand is on top of your shoulder and next to your ear. Do not cross your body. Then snap. The bottle cap will fly forward through the air toward whatever target you have designated.
TIPS AND WARNINGS
- TIP : Practice the hold often, and it will get more and more comfortable.
The middle finger is what propels the top through the air.
Wherever your elbow points is where the cap will go. Learn to aim with your elbow.
Practice often, and you will be able to flick your cap better every time.
In the the same way, you can flick coins.
- WARNING : If you get a cramp while holding the bottle cap, open your hand as wide as you can, and the cramp will go away.
Cramps in your hand happen because you have not used those muscles in a while.
Do not shoot at people. The serrated edges of the caps could harm people pretty seriously.
