Overview

how bottle cap shooter : Overview
The bottle cap shooter is a "drop and shoot" drink. A shot glass filled with sugar-rich liqueurs is dropped into a larger glass with a carbonated drink. The sudden influx of sugar excites the soda, making it foam up and shoot up the glass. The key is to drink it as soon as it foams up, enjoying the sensation of the fizzy explosion in your mouth.

Step 1

Pour lime juice and a citrus soda such as Sprite or 7-up into a beer glass. You want to pour in at least enough to cover the shot glass when you drop it in. The usual proportion is 1-to-1, but you can mix more soda in for a fizzier drink or more lime juice for a more tart flavor.

Step 2

Mix 1/2 oz. root beer Schnapps and 1/2 oz. of either amaretto or a light raspberry liqueur such as Raspberry Sour Puss or Raspberry Pucker in a shot glass. The amaretto will give a sweeter, creamier flavor, while the raspberry will make the drink fruitier and slightly more tart.

Step 3

Serve the drink and shot glass separately. Do not drop the shot glass immediately before serving the drink.

Step 4

To drink the bottle cap shooter, drop the shot glass into the beer glass and immediately drink the concoction. It will only take moments for the drink to foam up nicely, so by the time you move it to your lips it should be perfect.

TIPS AND WARNINGS

  • TIP : Try adding lemon juice and varying the proportions of the liqueurs for a different flavor. The beer and shot glass you use will affect the drink. For example, if you use a narrower beer glass it will take less soda and lime juice to cover the shot. This will give you a drink with a richer liqueur flavor.
